Thoughts | Restorative Rain
It’s been raining for days… it kinda feels like a dream. It’s July so to feel so cozy inside is rare with the heat.
It’s probably because I live in the desert, but the rain seems extra special. I didn’t think of it much growing up, but that may be because I was around and in the water all the time. I was a beach baby and never thought I wouldn’t be. Then, I met my now husband, moved across the country, and created a life here in the desert. If you had told me this when I was younger I wouldn’t have believed you. We sometimes talk about being close to the water again, but it’s hard to think about moving away once you’ve grown roots somewhere. And thankfully airplanes exist.
There’s something about the rain. It’s refreshing and restorative. Especially in the desert, but really it’s always felt that way to me. It feels like it washes away a hard day. It forces us to look inward and around us. What we are surrounded by at home or at work. Restoration comes in many forms, and when is comes to my soul rain is one of those.
What are some things that give you a sense of restoration and peace?
A few of mine are:
The ocean. (particularly swimming in it)
Rain.
A cup of tea at home.
A deep conversation with a loved one.
Being out in nature.
Hoping you can find some time to be in yours. To sit and be still. To restore your soul, however that looks for you.
